The Wives He Forgot
A handsome stranger, beaten and battered, suffers amnesia and stumbles into the little law offices of unlucky-in-love Charlotte St. John. She is the good Samaritan; she looks after him, nurtures him back to health... and develops a strong attraction to this enigmatic angel. He reciprocates — and Charlotte is finally reunited with true love. But only briefly, as their brief love affair comes to an abrupt halt when his true identity is revealed. They discover together, to their sad dismay, that he has previously married... twice. That is correct; he is an amnesiac who is unaware he was a bigamist. Though Charlotte is first disappointed that her ideal hero is just another ideal schmuck, she quickly decides to defend him against the bigamy allegations, reasoning that his injuries has obliterated his old personality. In preparing her defense, she digs into his background... and uncovers that his spiteful wife may have discovered his nasty bigamist secret months earlier— and covertly arranged his horrific demise!
