Despite Jake's passion for living in Chicago, his parents buy a campsite in rural Minnesota and relocate the entire family there. Until he meets Peter, the lad from across the river, Jake hates life at the campground. They become fast friends and spend the summer on the river together. During one of their chats, Jake learns more about Peter's Christian religion. His newfound spirituality helps Jake to comfort a friend in the midst of tragedy.
