The Counterfeiters

The plot centres around Bernard, an Olivier classmate who is studying for his baccalaureate, realising that he is a slacker and using this as an excuse to flee his home. He sleeps in Olivier's bed for a night (where Olivier describes a recent visit to a prostitute and how he did not find the experience very enjoyable). Bernard gets appointed as Edouard's secretary after stealing the suitcase belonging to Olivier's uncle Edouard and the attendant issues. Olivier is enraged and falls into the hands of the cunning and downright devious Comte de Passavant, who joins him on his journey to the Mediterranean.
