San Demetrio London

Based on the true account of the 1940 rescue of the tanker MV San Demetrio by elements of her own crew after she had been set afire in the middle of the Atlantic by the German heavy cruiser Admiral Scheer and subsequently abandoned, this British drama documentary was released in 1943. When one of the lifeboats returned to the flaming tanker the next day and saw that she hadn't exploded, they decided to board her and put out the fires. They eventually managed to restart the engine and decided to attempt to reach Britain despite all odds.
