Royal Shakespeare Company: Cymbeline

The situation in Britain is dire. A weak and ineffective Queen Cymbeline presides over a fractured and dismal Britain. Cymbeline's judgment is affected due to the fact that she is consumed with grief at the deaths of two of her children. Cymbeline is outraged when his sole living heir, Innogen, marries her childhood sweetheart Posthumus behind his back. As a result, Cymbeline sends Posthumus away. Someone with an unhealthy desire for power is hiding behind the throne, hatching a plan to overthrow both of them and take their place. In an act of irrational jealousy, Innogen's husband, who is currently living in exile, hatches a plot to have his wife killed after being led to believe that she had been unfaithful to him when they were together. Innogen, having been forewarned of the impending danger, flees the court incognito and embarks on a trip fraught with peril that will ultimately bring Cymbeline and a long-lost heir together and bring the young lovers back together.
