King Rat

When Singapore surrendered to the Japanese in 1942, the Allied POWs were incarcerated in Changi prison. There were not any walls or barbedwire fences for the very simple reason that there wasn't any location for the offenders to escape to. Included among the offenders may be the American Cpl. King, a wheeler dealer who's been able to set a fairly good life for himself in the camp. While the majority of the offenders are near starvation and also have uniforms that are in tatters, King eats and and contains clean clothes to put on every day. King soon forms a friendship with Lt. Peter Marlowean upper class British officer who is fascinated with King's élan lifestyle.
