Drowning

Drowning is a psychological thriller with a steady build-up of tension in which the main character, Anna, uses wish fulfillment to break free from a cycle of abuse. Anna does not have the self-esteem necessary to resist the violence she endures in the real world, so she constructs a new reality in which she fights back against her abusers. From the time she was a child, Anna has been subjected to physical abuse, sexual exploitation, and psychological manipulation. Anna, who has become disconnected from her emotions, must learn to take charge of her own life, to empower herself, and to learn to live her life on her own terms. When Anna returns to her childhood home, she finds herself up against her enablers, her abusers, and her own issues to contend with.
