Desire Can Set You Free is a feature film that explores life in contemporary Berlin having an eye that is humorous and critical . Based on a true story, the storyline follows the relationship of an American writer of Israeli/Palestinian descent and a Russian aspiring performer working like a hustler, offering access into the city queer and arenas while examining the gaps between expatriate and refugee life. Our characters travel through the layered history and subcultural landscape of Berlin. On their experiences they discover remnants and influences of WWII, the Weimar Republic, the years, and punk.
