Apart from a few modest houses, a bar, a petrol station with a mini-market, and a garbage dump, rural Fulton County, Georgia is devoid of life. Introverted Joel works at a garbage dump, where he occasionally discovers a usable glass bottle that he cleans and brings home. Then, one day, he receives an unexpected phone call: his ex-wife has vanished, leaving him in charge of his son. Joel, who is set to see his son for the first time, has no idea how he will establish a relationship with 10-year-old Will, who also appears to exist in his own world.
