The Holy Mountain
A master contributes a Christ figure as well as other disciples to a mountain of immortal wise men. The scandal of the 1973 Cannes Film Festival, writer/director Alejandro Jodorowsky's flooding of imagery and botanical symbolism at The Holy Mountain is actually a spiritual search for enlightenment. The Alchemist (Jodorowsky) builds together a group of folks from all walks of life to be a symbol of the planets in the solar system. The intention of the occult adept is to put his recruits before embarking on a day at Lotus 29, and divest them of these worldly luggage. There they ascend the ancestral gods who rule the entire universe to be displaced by the Holy Mountain.
