In exchange for having his $27,000 credit card debt forgiven, struggling actor John Person undertakes to transport a blue suitcase from Los Angeles to Baker, California, and hand it over to a mysterious cowboy. John can't find the cowboy when he arrives, but he does get an alarming head-shaped parcel that he's meant to keep. While waiting, John becomes close to Ruthie, whose crazy boyfriend, Randy, threatens to murder him.
