The Sisterhood
The passing of Ashley Shields' mother, the dissolution of her marriage, and being turned over for a promotion at work have all contributed to a difficult year for Ashley. Therefore, she is intrigued when her sister Jasmine introduces her to a women's organization called "The Sisterhood," and she believes that she would feel empowered enough to improve her life as a result of her participation in the group. Ashley finds that The Sisterhood lives up to all of the expectations she had for the group thanks to the mysterious and captivating leadership of Desiree. She is finally able to experience contentment and fulfillment once a favorable resolution is reached in her divorce proceedings, and she also receives a pay increase at her place of employment. However, she quickly learns that in order to reap the benefits of The Sisterhood, one must pay a significant, and often criminal, price. As Ashley gains more knowledge about The Sisterhood and is compelled to take part in its dubious activities, she comes to the conclusion that she is in over her head and needs to find a way out of the situation, despite the fact that doing so may cost her either her life or her relationship with Jasmine.
