The Accidental Witness

Victor Sandeman is a senior partner with Brunel Global Securities. He is suffering severe financial difficulties, which will be alleviated if the proposed $100 million merger of the company goes through. He is currently in bankruptcy. The company's owner, Raymond Brunel, on the other hand, is opposed to the acquisition. The elderly Raymond is murdered (while making it appear as though he died of natural causes) in order for Victor to proceed with the planned merger. Victor believes he can overcome the inept David Brunel, Raymond's grandson and the company's heir apparent. Christine Sternwald, a potential witness, is the only snag in the investigation. The paralegal and future attorney Christine is only now beginning to put her life back together after being sexually assaulted three years ago. During a fender crash shortly after the murder, in which Victor is driving the late Raymond's automobile, Victor is obliged to identify himself as Raymond Brunel in order to avoid being charged with his death.
