Jacob

In this moving story from the book of Genesis, Jacob (Matthew Modine) falls in love with and wishes to marry Rachel (Lara Flynn Boyle), the daughter of his Uncle Laban (Giancarlo Giannini). Jacob, who lacks a dowry, works as his uncle's indentured servant for seven years in order to win Rachel's hand in marriage. Laban, on the other hand, deceives him into another seven years of labor. Jacob's strong-willed mother is played by Irene Papas.
