Ezer Kenegdo

When Yisroel "Izzy" Jonigkeyt, a Chassidic Jew from Crown Heights, travels to San Francisco to see his Polish-born Catholic friend Marek Wisniewski with the goal of learning why a Bay Area art-world iconoclast named Harry Kierk wishes to trash a lifetime's worth of his own work, frictions arise. As the visit progresses, Izzy and Marek realize for the first time that their strange bond is being harmed by complicated past baggage, and they soon realize why Kierk is driven to ruin. Continued contacts with Marek's anti-Semitic cousin Irek (who is their only means of contacting Kierk) exacerbate the situation.
